How gems work
A gem is socketed into an artifact, and a gem is unique account-wide: the game stores one copy per gem, so it can sit in at most one artifact at a time. Gems refine with Lunaris, and a gem’s refine level travels with the gem — it is not the hosting artifact’s refine.
